Legends Football League
The Legends Football League (LFL) is a women's 7-on-7 tackle American football league, created in 2009, with games played in the fall and winter at NBA, NFL, NHL and MLS arenas and stadiums. The league was founded by Mitch Mortaza as the Lingerie Football League, and was rebranded as the Legends Football League in 2013. The league's administrative offices are in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Playing style
Playing style is full-contact and similar to other indoor football leagues. Uniforms consist of shoulder pads, elbow pads, knee pads, performance wear, and ice hockey-style helmets with clear plastic visors in lieu of face masks. Prior to the 2013 season, players wore garters, bras, and panties.
There are no field goals and no punts. There is a kickoff to start the game and second half. A team must attempt to get a first down on every fourth down. After a touchdown, a team can attempt a one-point conversion from the one-yard line, or a two-point conversion from the three-yard line.
There are seven women on each side of the 50-yard field, one fewer than the eight players usually found in arena football or other indoor leagues. Teams consist of 20 players, only 14 of whom are active on game day. This means that there are usually three or four players who play both offense and defense.
The standard offensive formation features 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 1 center, and 3 wide receivers. The standard defensive formation features 2 defensive linewomen, 2 linebackers, 2 cornerbacks, and 1 safety.
The field is 50-yards between end zones, 30 yards wide, and the end zones are 8 yards deep, roughly the same as other indoor leagues.
A game consists of four 8-minute quarters and a 15 minute halftime. In the event of a tie, one or more 8-minute sudden-death overtimes are played until a victor is determined.
Prior to the 2013 season, the Legends Football League was unique among indoor football leagues in that it played its games during the traditional fall football season rather than the spring.
Each team is loosely patterned after, and uses the same color scheme as, a professional football team in the area. Most of the time, the teams are based on NFL teams, although in cities without NFL teams, UFL (Las Vegas, Orlando), and former NFL (Los Angeles) teams' color schemes have been used. In Canada, the teams are based on either CFL teams (Toronto, Regina) or ice hockey teams (BC, Saskatoon). All but two of the LFL's teams use singular nicknames, a property shared by other women's sports leagues such as the WNBA and WPS.
Media
In 2009–2010, the ten LFL inaugural season teams competed in a 20-week season with games at major arenas and stadia. The weekly games were shot in 1080i high-definition and to broadcast on some MyNetworkTV affiliate stations, international stations, and online streaming.
In 2010–2011, MTV Networks' MTV2 channel licensed the rights to broadcast 20 regular season and two conference playoff highlight programs. LFL Presents: LFL, Friday Night Football on MTV2 is scheduled to premiere on September 10, 2010.
In 2011–12, MTV Networks' MTV2 channel once again broadcast 20 regular season games, two conference playoff games, and the championship game PRIOR to the start of the Super Bowl. This year however, they presented the games in their entirety and broadcast them live at 9:00 PM ET. LFL Presents: LFL, Friday Night Football on MTV2 is premiered on August 26, 2011 from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
In 2011, the Legends Football League partnered with Fantazzle Fantasy Sports to present a fantasy football game for the LFL.
Since the 2009–2010 season, the Legends Football League has partnered with Five Stone music to compose music for the weekly game highlights, commercials, sound effects, radio shows, and music bed for the games on MTV2 and the international TV stations. The LFL Theme Song was composed by Five Stone in a collaboration with the vocalist Piper from the band Flipsyde.
In 2013, the Legends Football began airing their games on a week delayed basis, airing games every Saturday on YouTube. The theme song has changed to "The Chosen" by Iowa-based group Drenalin. Games are shot in 1080i.
2012–2013
n 2012 the league decided to officially move the next LFL United States season to April 2013.[17] The league stated the reasoning behind the postponement of the schedule was to move the league to a spring and summer schedule, mirroring every other indoor American football league of the past decade, as the commissioner felt that there was greater opportunity for success in the spring; the league also stated the hiatus would allow the league offices to focus on the introductory world tours scheduled for late 2012.
For the 2013 season the league has granted two new franchises: Omaha Heart and Atlanta Steam. Toronto Triumph have switched leagues, joining LFL Canada for its inaugural 2012 season, while the Orlando Fantasy officially suspended operations. Before the start of the 2013 season, the Tampa Breeze relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to become the Jacksonville Breeze. The league created new divisions for the 2013 season, splitting the twelve teams into four divisions.
Due to the success of previous games, the LFL expanded its annual one-off all-star game into a three-game series. The 2012 LFL All-Fantasy Tour comprised one game in Mexico and two games in Australia. The Mexico All-Fantasy Game took place on May 5 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City with the Western Conference winning 37–7 over the Eastern Conference. The second match of the series took place in Brisbane, Australia on June 2 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre with the Western Conference victorious 45–36.[21] The Western Conference took a 3–0 series sweep with a 31–24 victory in the third and final match in Sydney, Australia on June 9 at Allphones Arena.
Opening night for the 2013 LFL US season kicked off on March 30, 2013. Playoffs are scheduled to begin on August 17, 2013 with Conference Divisional games, then Conference Championship games on August 24, 2013, and the Legends Cup (formerly the Lingerie Bowl) on September 1, 2013. The 2013 Legends Cup was to be played at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, due to higher ticket sales than the 3,000 seat Highmark could accommodate, an announcement was made June 1, 2013 that the championship game would move to neighboring Philadelphia, to PPL Park, the home of MLS Philadelphia Union and the home, as of 2013, of LFL's Philadelphia Passion. On July 5, 2013, LFL once again moved the Legends Cup game, this time to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, having signed an agreement to have the game there for the next 3 years.
