villanova football

Villanova Wildcats football

The Villanova Wildcats football program represents Villanova University in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-AA). The Wildcats currently compete in the Colonial Athletic Association for football only. They play on-campus at Villanova Stadium with capacity of 12,000 and play select games at PPL Park in Chester, PA with capacity of 18,000. Legendary head coach Andy Talley has been at the helm of the program since it was reinstated in 1985 and led the program to its first NCAA Division I National Championship in 2009.

History

The Wildcats football team played their first game in November 1894 coached by legendary trainer and coach Mike Murphy. They continued to play as an independent team for 87 seasons participating in several Bowl Games and sending numerous players into Professional football including NFL Hall of Fame defensive end, Howie Long. On April 14, 1981 the program was officially disbanded due to weak attendance and monetary reasons cited by the University Board of Directors.[1] Athletic Director Ted Aceto had stated they had sold only 750 season tickets for the 1980 season with 95 scholarship Players.
Under heavy pressure from alumni and students, the program was reinstated by the Board of Trustees in April 1984 and sponsored a sold out Blue-White intrasquad game for Homecoming that November. Led by current head coach Andy Talley, they began playing a couple of regulation NCAA games in September 1985. The reborn program had instant success, beginning with an undefeated 5 game schedule against Division III competition and beatingthe NAVY JV's. The program moved up to 1-AA (FCS) and joined the Yankee Conference in 1987, beginning official competition in 1988.
Led by QB Kirk Schulz and WR Robert Brady the Wildcats reached the 1-AA playoffs in 1989, bowing to eventual champions Georgia Southern in a spirited, high scoring game.
Led by All-American linebacker Curtis Eller, the 'Cats returned to the 1-AA playoffs in 1991 and 1992, bowing each time to eventual champion Youngstown State.
All-American wide receiver Brian Finneran led the Wildcats to the 1-AA playoffs in 1996 before bowing to East Tennessee State.
The 1997 season marked Villanova's first undefeated, untied regular season, as well as their first time reaching #1 in the FCS rankings. The 1997 'Cats featured two future Payton Award winners- Finneran and freshman running back Brian Westbrook. The Cat's defeated Colgate in the 1-AA playoffs before falling a 3rd time to arch-nemesis Youngstown State.
In 2002, led by All-American QB Brett Gordon, Villanova advanced to the NCAA FCS semifinals, defeating Fordham and Furman before falling to McNeese State.
In 2008, a sophomore-laden squad led by all-purpose back Matt Szczur and QB Chris Whitney, Villanova went 10-3 losing only 2 FCS games all season. Both losses were to James Madison on a "hail mary" game ending TD in the regular season and a last minute overtime quarterfinal loss in the NCAA playoffs.
In 2009, Villanova won the NCAA Division I FCS National Championship, defeating Montana 23–21 in Chattanooga, TN and finishing with a 14–1 overall record. Junior Matt Szczur was voted Championship Game MVP and was selected as a 1st team All-American at two positions- offense and special teams. Junior Chris Whitney was also voted 1st team All-American. On their way to the championship Villanova defeated FBS Temple, losing only to New Hampshire, and was CAA co-conference Champion with theRichmond Spiders, whom Villanova defeated at Richmond on a 4th down TD pass. Villanova hosted three playoff games, defeating Holy Cross, avenging their regular season loss to New Hampshire with a lopsided victory played in a driving snowstorm, and edging CAA nemesis William & Mary 14-13 under the ESPN TV lights on a frigid night.
In 2010 season, Villanova returned to the NCAA semifinals, this time going on a 9,000 mile odessey while defeating #3 Stephen F. Austin and #1 ranked Appalachian State before losing to eventual champion, Eastern Washington Eagles. Villanova ended the 2010 campaign ranked #3 in the nation in FCS and knocked off two #1 ranked teams on the road in 3 weeks late in the season including National Runner-up Delaware.
The 2012 season was in the midst of a rebuilding campaign by Coach Talley that earned a surprising CAA Conference Championship and another NCAA playoff appearance by the Wildcats who finished 8–4 with a very young squad full of talented underclassmen.

fantasy football

Fantasy football (Association)
Fantasy football is a game in which participants assemble an imaginary team of real
life footballers and score points based on those players' actual statistical performance
or their perceived contribution on the field of play. Usually players are selected from
one specific division in a particular country, although there are many variations.
The original game was created by Andrew Wainstein in England in 1991, when he set up
Fantasy League Ltd after seeing the success of American fantasy sports games in the 1980s.
Fantasy football has evolved in recent years from a simple recreational activity into
a significant business due to exposure via the internet.
An emerging variant is club-based fantasy football in which participants select
players from within their own club. Participating clubs typically have more than one
football team and adopt club fantasy football to increase communication and banter
between teams. Some clubs charge a nominal amount for players to enter a team and
either use the proceeds as a fundraiser or to fund the fantasy league prizes.
Club fantasy football leagues tend to be less sophisticated than the national
variety since most clubs run them on a spreadsheet. Niche sports websites now offer
online versions with both paid and free versions available.
Teams
Most fantasy football leagues, especially those run by national newspapers, ask you
to select 11 players within a price budget. There is usually a restriction on the
number of players per club; a typical selection would be to select 1 goalkeeper, 4
defenders, 4 or 3 midfielders and 2 or 3 forwards. Some games are squad-based, where
you choose not just a first XI but also a set of substitutes.
In smaller leagues played by a small group of people, players are bought by bidding
between the rival managers rather than for a set amount of money. This means a particular
player can only play for one team, and thus any points he accrues are credited to that
team only. Typically, most leagues offer the chance to transfer players in and out of the
team as the season progresses, in case of injury, suspension or loss of form.
Starter options
At the start of the season Fantasy football leagues can be set up in various ways.
For leagues with unique teams, i.e. leagues where every player exist only once, there
are at least two different starter options. Option 1 is a player auction. Every player
is auctioned and the manager of a community need to bid for the players. Manager have a
certain budget for the auction. Option 2 is a player draft. Each manager is allocated a
certain number of players.
For leagues without unique teams, i.e. every manager can own every player if he has
sufficient funding. Usually there is neither a draft nor an auction but managers can
pick their players until they have used up their budget. This starter option is used
by the most widespread fantasy football game Barclay's Premier League Fantasy Football.
With over 2 million people registering for the Fantasy Premier League each season,
there is no draft or auction option, as this would severely limit the amount of people
who could play the official game. By having a system that doesn’t require unique teams,
it allows managers to select the same players and gives them the ability to compete
against everyone else on a wider scale.
The auction
Various fantasy football games with unique teams offer the option of a player auction.
At the beginning of the season, players are put on a transfer market and manager can
bid for them. Some games even continue this auction system during the season (e.g. kaiser.
co.uk). Kaiser also offers the opportunity to take the league to the next season. In this
case new leagues can be started throughout the season without making it less interesting.
Other games with an auction system include plmanager.co.uk and fantasyleague.co.uk.
The draft
The draft is an option to jump-start a league. This is especially interesting for leagues
that are set up during the season. From day 1, managers can line up their team for the
next match day and trade players with other community member or the computer.
The draft is a common feature for NFL fantasy football games and the German Bundesliga.
At least one Premier League manager game offers a similar feature.

Tomas Rosicky is a Guitar Hero

"Rosický is reported to be a proficient guitarist, and has played live with Tri sestry
(No, me either). Rosický was able to hone his guitar skills during his 18 months on the
sidelines because of his hamstring injury. He has even played at the Czech player of the
year awards (No, me either) to "serenade" Chelsea's first choice goalkeeper Petr Cech as
the goalkeeper received the Czech player of the year award."
And here is Tomas with Lou Fananek Hagen, lead singer of Tri Sestry
(that's three sisters in Czech, I've discovered) who does appear to be
wearing a Liverpool shirt with his name on it.. but.. hey.
Nicklas Bendtner : Genuinely Ridiculously Confident
Now, everyone knows Nicklas is a confident guy - unfortunately, the type of confident
guy who says he's overly capable; then proceeds not to prove it. I, like many, thought
his apparent cocky swagger was an act, in an attempt to hide his own shortcomings and
insecuritues. Nope - indeed wikipedia tells us:
"Bendtner once received a confidence rating that exceeded the scale in a test carried
by an Arsenal psychologist"
Blimey. Did i hear someone say d-e-l-u-s-i-o-n-a-l?
"Bow down before me, for I am your leader. YES THAT DOES INCLUDE YOU CESC.
Get on your knees."
Denilson: Quite the Musical Maestro
Hands if you thought footballers spent their down time "relaxing" with their WAGs
(or ladies that are NOT their WAGs), drinking and getting into trouble with the law.
Well, that's what the media will have you believe. Because that's not what Denilson does.
"Denílson is fond of Brazilian music and the samba—he can even be found on YouTube
singing and dancing with his former Brazilian Arsenal teammates Gilberto Silva and
Júlio Baptista."
Of course, I immediately headed to YouTube and found it. Unfortunately, embedding

football history

History of association football
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, can be traced
to as far back as the Medieval period in Britain (the patriots).
The modern game of association football originates from the formation of The
Football Association in London, England in 1863 based on multiple efforts to
standardize the varying forms of the game. This allowed clubs to play each other
without dispute and which specifically banned handling of the ball during open
field play and hacking after the fifth meeting of the association
(hence the division between association football and rugby football).
At the time, football clubs had played by their own, individual codes and game-day
rules had usually to be agreed upon before a match could commence. For example,
the Sheffield Rules that applied to most matches played in the Sheffield area were

a different code.
The Football Association
The first set of football rules was drawn up at Cambridge University in 1848 and
became particularly influential in the development of subsequent codes, including
Association Football. Known as the Cambridge Rules, they were written at Trinity
College, Cambridge, at a meeting attended by representatives from Eton, Harrow,
Shrewsbury, Rugby and Winchester schools, though they were not universally adopted.
During the 1850s, many clubs unconnected to schools or universities were formed
throughout the English-speaking world, to play various forms of football. Some
came up with their own distinct codes of rules, most notably the Sheffield Football Club,
formed by former public school pupils in 1857, which led to formation of a Sheffield
Football Association in 1867.
During the early 1860s, there were increasing attempts in England to unify and
reconcile the various football games that were played in the public schools as well
in the industrial north under the Sheffield Rules. In 1862, J. C. Thring, who had
been one of the driving forces behind the original Cambridge Rules, was a master at
Uppingham School and he issued his own rules of what he called "The Simplest Game
"(aka the Uppingham Rules). In early October 1863, a revised version of the
Cambridge Rules was drawn up by a seven member committee representing former
pupils of Eton, Harrow, Shrewsbury, Rugby, Marlborough and Westminster.

Ebenezer Cobb Morley, who is regarded as the "father of football".
Ebenezer Cobb Morley, a solicitor from Hull, wrote to Bell's Life newspaper in 1863,
proposing a governing body for football. Morley was to become the FA's first
secretary (1863–66) and its second president (1867–74), but is particularly remembered
as it was he who drafted the first Laws of the Game at his home in Barnes, London,
that are today played the world over. For this, he is considered not just the father
of the Football Association, but of Association Football itself.
Charterhouse has an historic joint claim to having founded Association Football,
which remains the main Winter sport at the school. During the 1840s at both
Charterhouse and Westminster School pupils' surroundings meant they were confined
to playing their football in the cloisters, making the rough and tumble of the
handling game that was developing at other schools such as Rugby impossible, and
necessitating a new code of rules. During the formulation of the rules of the
Association Football in the 1860s representatives of Charterhouse and Westminster
School pushed for a passing game, in particular rules that allowed forward passing
("passing on"). Other schools (in particular Eton College, Shrewsbury School and Harrow)
favoured a dribbling game with a tight off-side rule. It is claimed that Stoke
Ramblers was formed in 1863 when former pupils of Charterhouse School formed a
football club while apprentices at the North Staffordshire Railway works in
Stoke-on-Trent. By 1867 the Football Association had chosen in favour of the
Charterhouse and Westminster game and adopted a "loose" off-side rule that  permitted forward passing. The modern forward-passing game was a direct  consequence of Charterhouse and Westminster Football. On the evening of 26 October 1863, representatives of several football clubs in the Greater London area met at the Freemasons' Tavern on Long Acre in Covent Garden. This was the first meeting of The Football Association (FA). It was the world's first official football body and for this reason is not preceded with the word English. Charterhouse was the only school which accepted invitations to attend. The first meeting resulted in the issuing of a request for representatives of the public schools to join the association. With the exception of Thring at Uppingham, most schools declined. In total, six meetings of the FA were held between October and December 1863. Committee member J. F. Alcock, said: "The Cambridge Rules appear to be the most desirable for the Association to adopt."After the third meeting, a draft set of rules were published by the FA. However, at the beginning of the fourth meeting, attention was drawn to the recently-published Cambridge Rules of 1863. The Cambridge rules differed from the draft FA rules in two significant areas; namely running with (carrying) the ball and hacking (kicking opposing players in the shins). The two contentious FA rules were as follows:
IX. A player shall be entitled to run with the ball towards his adversaries' goal if he makes a fair catch, or
catches the ball on the first bound; but in case of a fair catch, if he makes his mark he shall not run. X. If
any player shall run with the ball towards his adversaries' goal, any player on the opposite side shall be at
liberty to charge, hold, trip or hack him, or to wrest the ball from him, but no player shall be held and hacked at the same time.At the fifth meeting a motion was proposed that these two rules be removed from the FA rules. Most of the delegates supported this suggestion but F. W. Campbell, the representative from Blackheath and the first FA treasurer, objected strongly. He said, "hacking is the true football". The motion was carried nonetheless and — at the final meeting — Campbell withdrew his club from the FA. After the final meeting on 8 December the FA published the "Laws of Football", the first comprehensive set of rules for the game later known as association football.
The game also came to be called "soccer" as a shortening of "Association" around the same time as Rugby football, colloquially referred to as "rugger", was developing as the main carrying of the ball version of English football, and "soccer" remains a common descriptor in countries with other prominent football codes today.[citation needed]These first FA rules still contained elements that are no longer part of association football, but which are still recognisable in other games (Rugby Union, Australian rules football): for instance, a player could make a fair catch and claim a mark, which entitled him to a free kick, and; if a player touched the ball behind the opponents'goal line, his side was entitled to a free kick at goal, from 15 yards in front of the goal line.
The laws of the game agreed on by the FA members stipulated a maximum length and breadth for the pitch, the procedurefor kicking off, and definition of terms, including goal, throw in, offside. Passing the ball by hand was still permitted provided the ball was caught "fairly or on the first bounce". Despite the specifications of footwear having no"tough nails, iron plates and gutta percha" there were no specific rule on number of players, penalties, foul play or theshape of the ball; captains of the participating teams were expected to agree on these things prior to the match.
Ebenezer Cobb Morley
Foundations of a competition
The laws laid down by the FA had an immediate effect, with Sheffield F.C. and Nottingham (now Notts  County) playing an annual fixture on the FA code, among others. As more teams joined the code in the 1860s,the sport veered away from its origins in public schools, came to be played with round balls and by teams that had settled on 11 players each. The rule eliminating passing of the ball forwards by making all players in front of the ball 'offside' (much like in rugby today) was dropped. A Sheffield against London game in 1866 had allowed the FA to observe how the rules were affecting the game; subsequently handling of the ball was abolished except for one player on each team, the goalkeeper. A red tape was added between the two goalposts to indicate the top of the goal, and a national competition was proposed. 1867 saw the introduction of the first competition and oldest existing trophy in soccer.
First FA Cup
On 20 July 1871, C. W. Alcock, a gentleman from Sunderland and a former pupil of Harrow School proposed that "a Challenge Cup should be established in connection with the [Football] Association", the idea that gave birth to the competition. At the first FA Cup in 1872, Wanderers and Royal Engineers met in the final in front of 2,000 paying spectators. Despite the Royal Engineers being the heavy favorites, one of their players sustained a broken collar bone early on and since substitutions had not yet been introduced, the Engineers played a man down for the rest of the match which they eventually lost 1-0.
The FA Cup was a success and within a few years all of the clubs in England wanted to take part. To do so they had to accept the FA code, which led to the quick spread of a universal set of rules. These rules are the basis of which all association football rules today stem from.
Later competitions saw the 'Gentleman' or Southerners dominate with Old Etonians, Wanderers, Royal Engineers and Oxford University who amongst them took 19 titles. Queens Park withdrew in the semi-finals of the 1873 cup (which due to the format being played that year meant that all the challengers to Wanderers' trophy played a competition for the right to throw down the gauntlet and play the holders, hence the full name FA Challenge Cup)because they had trouble raising travel expenses to pay for the constant trips to England, this directly led to the formation of the Scottish FA. However despite this, Queens Park continued to participate in the FA Cup, reaching the final twice, before the Scottish FA banned Scottish clubs from entering in 1887.Nowadays the FA cup is heavily celebrated. In 1872, Alcock purchased the Football Association Cup for £20. That year, fifteen clubs entered the competition.
Queen's Park reached the semi finals without playing due to withdrawals, but then after a goalless draw with Wanderers, were forced to withdraw as before the advent of penalties and extra time, they could not afford to come back to London for the replay. Wanderers won the cup outright in 1878 after what remains to this day one of only two hat tricks of wins ever. However they returned the cup to the FA in order for the competition to continue, on the condition that no other club could win the cup outright ever again.
FIFA
The FIFA Women's World Cup was inaugurated with the FIFA Women's World Cup 1991, hosted in China, with 12 teams sent to represent their countries.
Over 90,185 spectators attended the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup and nearly 1 billion viewers from 70 countries tuned in.
By the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003, 16 teams competed in the championship finals. Of the four tournaments held to date(2006), the USA has won the championship twice, Norway once and Germany most recently. Women's confederations are the same as men's: Oceania (OFC), European (UEFA), North, Central America and Caribbean (CONCACAF), South American (CONMEBOL), Asian (AFC) and African (CAF).

Players could also construct a stadium to accommodate several different fan bases
to the club. These included die hards, devoted, families, glory hunters and
corporates, each offering their own characteristics such as wealth and atmosphere.
Gameworlds
There were 12 Gameworlds in Football Manager Live. The gameworld system was
radically changed in 2010 when they were split into two types: 'Fantasy Players'
and 'Returning Stars.' Previously, as a gameworld progressed over time,
'real life' players gradually aged and retired to be replaced by generated
players (or 'regens'). This remains the case with 'Fantasy Players' gameworlds,
but for 'Returning Stars' the gameworld is reset sporadically back to the present day.
The first gameworld, launched on 4 November 2008 was Cantona, and this was
followed by 8 other worlds until the first Pro-Gameworld, Toms, was launched
on 12 January 2009. Existing users were encouraged to join the first
Pro-Gameworld by having the opportunity to transfer the skills that they
had gained to the new Gameworld. This had not been possible when transferring
worlds previously and the challenge of playing the best was readily taken up.
Gameworlds were named after real-life ex-players.
In June 2010 the 3D match engine, first seen in Football Manager 2009 was

added to Football Manager Live.
Game restructuring
On 26 November 2009, vast changes to the existing game were announced by SI. The most controversial
of these changes was the announcement of the resetting of all current game worlds to their initial states,
which would commence on 1 March 2010 This announcement caused controversy amongst the community as many
managers were upset by the results from this decision which would include losing all progress made up until
this date. SI in an attempt to make up for this action offered all current subscribers two months of free play
time though this was met with relatively negative reactions.
On 18 December 2009 Sports Interactive announced that it would be extending the free time for its managers until
the reset in March 2010. It was also announced following the outcry over lost skills that they would be
implementing a new skills system into FML after the reset which would allow current managers to use their
existing skill points after the reset. This move was met with great appreciation by the games current subscribers.
At the same time it was announced that the new version 1.4 would include youth academies and many

more extras which its subscribers have been asking for many months.

Jeoy Barton England football player
1.When people talk about my dark days, when I sit down and think about
it - the misdemeanours I've had, with the things that go on in the real world,
- the things I have done are stupid and foolish. But they are not war crimes.
That's what gets me. When footballers are on the front page and on page seven
is something about soldiers dying or floods or the real tragedies in this world,
I ask myself how we can justify that.
2.You have to face facts. We have not brought quality in.
One or two have done all right but not enough to take the team onto the next level.
We can't gamble on players who have scored six goals in six games in the fucking Pontins
League or in Belgium. I know a lot of the supporters are umming and ahhing
about whether to buy their season tickets. They go out and work hard.
It is a lot of money to buy a season ticket at our place and they are not getting
value for money.
3.Barton questioning whether modern-day footballers receive too much media coverage.

Gabreil Batistuta player of argentine
1.I've always given everything for every team I've played for so that the ordinary fans, the people in the stadium, could identify with me. I owe a lot to the fans of Roma,
Fiorentina and Argentina. They were the reason I played, my inspiration.
I always worked hard to improve my game, to prove to myself that I could be
one of the best for as long as possible. To be honest, I couldn’t care less what
the others think.
2.When I was playing football I never enjoyed it that much,
I was never happy ... if I scored two goals, I wanted a third,
I always wanted more. Now it’s all over I can look back with satisfaction,

but I never felt that way when I was playing.

football videos

The idea of creating an on-field marker to help TV viewers identify 1st down distances
was conceived and patented in 1978 by David W. Crain, who presented the concept
to Roone Arledge[7] and Roger Goodman[8] of ABC News and Sports and to the CBS
Technology Center. At the time, both decided the broadcast industry was not
ready to use Crain's invention. In 1998, ESPN Programmer Gary Morgenstern and others
,revived the idea. ESPN's NFL Coordinating Producer, Fred Gaudelli was tasked with
overseeing an implementation for their network. The 1st & Ten line was first broadcast
by Sportvision, a private company, during ESPN's coverage of a Bengals-Ravens game on
September 27, 1998. A few weeks later, on Thanksgiving Day in 1998 (October 12),
Princeton Video Image (PVI) aired their version of the virtual yellow down line on a
CBS broadcast of a Pittsburgh Steelers–Detroit Lions game.Four years later,
SportsMEDIA introduced a third version during NBC coverage of a Notre Dame game.
The rivalry between PVI and Sportvision began with a collaboration. In July 1995 PVI
had successfully used their L-VIS (Live Video Insertion System) match moving technology
to broadcast virtual advertising behind the home plate on a local broadcast of a
Trenton Thunder baseball game in Trenton, New Jersey. In January 1996, Roy Rosser,
Director of Special Projects at PVI saw SportsVision's FoxTrax puck on the broadcast
of the 1996 NHL All-Star Game and realized that a combination of L-VIS and FoxTrax
would allow virtual insertions in a wider range of situations than either could do
on their own, given the then power of affordable computers. He contacted Stan Honey,
CTO at Sportsvision, and the two companies undertook a joint demonstration of their
combined technologies during the 1996 World Series between the Atlanta Braves and
the New York Yankees at the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. The test was not a success
and the two companies parted ways, each developing complementary systems that were
eventually used to broadcast Sportsvision's "First and Ten" line and PVI's "Yellow
Down Line". In October 1999, SportVision sued PVI alleging that PVI's virtual
signage, first down line, and other products infringed Fox/Sportvision patents.
In August 2001, PVI counterclaimed against Sportvision in the Federal Court action,
alleging that Sportvision's virtual strike zone and virtual signage products
infringed a PVI patent. In 2002, the companies settled the law suits out of court
through a cross-licensing deal.

football odds

Aside from simple wagers such as betting a friend that one's favorite baseball
team will win its division or buying a football "square" for the Super Bowl,
sports betting is commonly performed through a bookmaker or through various online
Internet outlets. The many types of bets include:

1.Straight Bets are wagers that are made against the spread. The spread, or line,
is a number assigned by the bookmakers which handicaps one team and favors another.
For example, in the NBA, when two teams play each other, one is perceived as being
more likely to win. To attempt to make wagering on the underdog desirable, the
bookmaker will give them points. Before game 5 of the 2012 NBA Finals, the Miami
Heat were expected to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. The line read: Miami -3,
Oklahoma City +3. To determine who wins against the spread, the line is either
added or subtracted from a teams final score. In the above example, if the bettor
chose Miami, he would subtract 3 points from Miami's final score and compare that
to Oklahoma's final score. For him to win his bet, Miami would have to win the game
by 4 points or more. This is the most common type of bet in sports.
2.Proposition bets are wagers made on a very specific outcome of a match.
Examples include guessing the number of goals each team scores in a handball match,
betting whether a player will score in a football game, or wagering that a baseball
player on one team will accumulate more hits than another player on the opposing team.
3.Parlays involve multiple bets (usually up to 12) and will reward a successful
bettor with a large payout. For example, a bettor could include four different
wagers in a four-team parlay, whereby he is wagering that all four bets will win.
If any of the four bets fails to cover, the bettor loses the parlay, but if all four
bets win, the bettor receives a substantially higher payout (usually 10-1 in the case
of a four-teamer) than if he made the four wagers separately.
4.Progressive parlays. A progressive parlay involves multiple bets (usually up to 12)
and rewards successful bettors with a large payout, though not as large as normal parlays.
However in a progressive parlay, unlike a regular parlay, a reduced payout will
still be made even should some of the bets lose.
5.Teasers. A teaser allows the bettor to combine his bets on two or more
different games. The bettor can adjust the point spreads for the two games,
but must get all the games correct to win and recognizes a lower return in
comparison to parlays.
6.If bets. An if bet consists of at least two straight bets joined together
by an if clause which determines the wager process. If the player’s first selection
 complies with the condition (clause), then the second selection will have action;
if the second selection complies with the condition, then the third selection will
 have action and so on.
7.Run line, puck line or goal line bets. These are wagers offered as alternatives
to straight-up/moneyline prices in baseball, hockey or soccer, respectively.
These bets feature a fixed point spread that (usually) offers a higher payout
for the favorite and a lower payout for the underdog
(both in comparison to the moneyline).
8.Run line, puck line or goal line bets. These are wagers offered as alternatives
to straight-up/moneyline prices in baseball, hockey or soccer, respectively.
These bets feature a fixed point spread that (usually) offers a higher payout for
the favorite and a lower payout for the underdog (both in comparison to the moneyline).
9.Future wagers. While all sports wagers are by definition on future events,
bets listed as "futures" generally have a long-term horizon measured in weeks or
months; for example, a bet that a certain NFL team will win the Super Bowl for the
upcoming season. Such a bet must be made before the season starts in September,
and winning bets will not pay off until the conclusion of the Super Bowl in January
or February (although many of the losing bets will be clear well before then and can
be closed out by the book). Odds for such a bet generally are expressed in a ratio
of units paid to unit wagered. The team wagered upon might be 50-1 to win the Super
Bowl, which means that the bet will pay 50 times the amount wagered if the
 team does so.
10.Head-to-Head. In these bets, bettor predicts competitors results against
each other and not on the overall result of the event. One example are Formula
One races, where you bet on two or three drivers and their placement among the others.
Sometimes you can also bet a “tie”, in which one or both drivers either have the
same time, drop out, or get disqualified.
11.Totalizators. In totalizators (sometimes called flexible-rate bets) the odds
are changing in real-time according to the share of total exchange each of the
possible outcomes have received taking into account the return rate of the bookmaker
offering the bet. For example: If the bookmakers return percentage is 90%, 90% of
the amount placed on the winning result will be given back to bettors and 10% goes
to the bookmaker. Naturally the more money bet on a certain result, the smaller the
odds on that outcome become. This is similar to parimutuel wagering in horse racing
 and dog racing.
12.2nd half bets. A 2nd half (Second half) bet is also sometimes called a
halftime bet. This bet is placed only at halftime of a particular sporting event.
This bet can be placed on the spread(Line) or over/under. The resulting bet that
is placed is won or lost only on the points scored by both teams in the second half only.
13.2nd half bets.
